The death has occurred of THOMAS JOSEPH “JOE” DURKAN (B.D.S.. NUI), late of ”Cooleen”, Ballymoneen, Enniscrone, County Sligo and originally from the Ideal Bar, The Square, Charlestown, County Mayo, on the 17th of December 2024, peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Ballina after a period of illness bravely borne.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Ita, into whose embrace he now returns, and his sisters Maura and Sheila.
Loving father of Clodagh (Galway), Ronan (Ballymoneen), Sinéad (Enniscrone), Denise Gavin (Leenane) and Joe (Ballina).
Sadly missed by his loving daughters and sons, his sisters Pauline Gorman (Castleblayney), Bernie Carr (Salthill), brother Jerry (Charlestown), grandchildren Oisín, Caolán, Iarla, Finn, Cara, Cuán and Faolán, son-in-law Liam, Declan and daughter-in-law Josephine, nephews and nieces, his extended family and friends.
Reposing at McGowans Funeral Home, Ballina (F26 V274) on Thursday evening from 5.30 with removal at 7pm to St. Joseph’s Church, Castleconnor, arriving at 7.30pm.
Funeral Mass at 11am on Friday the 20th of December, with burial afterwards in Killanley Cemetery.
