The Death has occurred of Alan Jackson of Clearwater, Cloghans, Ballina, Co. Mayo & Preston, Lancashire, U.K.
In his happy place in Cloghans overlooking Lough Conn.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna.
Alan, beloved father of Gillian.
Sadly, missed by his loving daughter & all his fishing friends & everyone that knew him.
Reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina (FR26 V274) on Thursday evening from 5:30pm until 7pm.
Funeral will arrive to St. Teresa’s Church, Rathduff on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial in Cloghans Cemetery, Knockmore.

Dear Gillian, my deepest sympathy on the sad passing of your Dad Alan. I have many fond memories of Alan going back 20 years, of his time spent on Bartragh Island & the quay area with all his fishing buddies, eating sea trout, sipping a glass of red wine & enjoying life. The Moy Estuary will never be the same without his presence where he spent many a day fishing for trout. Alan was a kind man, quietly spoken but always able to hold his corner in any discussion in the “hollow” where many other of his friends gathered on the island. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace. I’m so saddened to hear of Alan’s death. I first met him in Russia on the bank of the River Varzuga.
Wonderful memories.
My thoughts are with his daughter Gillian, who I’ve never met but Alan spoke of her in many occasions.
